Glendronach is iconic. James Allerdice founded the distillery in 1826, one of the first distilleries to be licensed in Scotland. Now for its 200th Anniversary it developed an immersive sense memory experience to stir both the palate and the soul. In Sydney at the Ace Hotel, we were taken on an evocative journey that transcended just a tasting event. It was a celebration with master blender Dr. Rachel Barrie, the first lady of Scotch inducted into the Whisky Hall of Fame. It was a time to listen, taste and learn from someone with three decades of casking experience. Every nuance of the drams presented was done so with a poetic presentation that resonated with those assembled at this exclusive event.
A hidden whisky foraging trail was created for this event where guests were invited to forage for hidden drams and whisky cocktails amongst moss, foliage and woodland-inspired landscapes. Along the way, they discovered bespoke snack pairings from Kiln, scent experiences, and Highland soundscapes – a sensory journey for those craving a Euro trip without leaving the city. No sooner had we passed through the first curtain, there were a series of bespoke experiences and tastings that took this immersive experience to another level.
On arrival three themed cocktails were available to choose from, a Bramble Sour, Forgue Valley Fizz, and smoked Old Fashioned – all part of the Highlands House menu designed for the event. However, the Whisky flight was the star of the show which also showcased three expressions of the Masters Anthology “Ode” series:

In a showstopper and incredible act of generosity, master blender Dr. Rachel Barrie treated us to The Glendronach Thirty Year Old matured in Oloroso, Pedro Ximénez, and select Amontillado sherry casks. It is absolutely sublime, touching upon perfection. It evokes the poetry and legacy of this distillery by dancing across your palate like a haunting kiss you will never forget, with a finish just as memorable. Glendronach is two hundred years old, and will seduce future generations, whilst always staying true to its tradition.
