Celebrating the cuisine of northern Italy on Wednesday 7 October – created by Joseph Vargetto in collaboration with Sebastiano Pezzoli
On Wednesday 7 October, Mister Bianco will take guests on a journey to Lombardy in northern Italy with Brescia a Tavola – an intimate evening celebrating the distinctive food, wine, and culinary traditions of the city.
Bringing together two chefs at the helm of Melbourne’s prominent Italian dining scene, Mister Bianco’s Joseph Vargetto is joining forces with Sebastiano Pezzoli, former Head Chef of Cecconi’s Flinder’s Lane, for a one-night-only dinner centred around a regional cuisine that is generous, rustic and deeply connected to the land.
Born in Brescia, Pezzooli brings an intimate understanding of the region’s culinary traditions and cooking techniques, offering a personal connection to the event menu that will bring Northern Italy to Mister Bianco’s usually Sicilian-rooted kitchen.
“Regional Italian cooking has always been at the heart of Mister Bianco,” says Vargetto. “Brescia has a remarkable culinary identity, but it remains relatively undiscovered in Australia.
“Brescia a Tavola will be more than a dinner dinner. It will be a journey to the heart of Lombardy, and an opportunity to share the culinary traditions, stories and hospitality that has been passed from one generation to the next and that make the region so special.”
The evening will showcase the distinctive, rustic cooking of Brescia, with four courses including handmade pasta, slow-braised meats.
A welcome drink and three perfectly paired Ca dei Frati wines, with a wine expert talking through the delectable drops, will complement the generosity and wealth of the region.
