Coonawarra Wines on Tour – Meet the Makers and Taste the Best of Coonawarra across 5 States this August

The wines of the Coonawarra Wine Region will be in the spotlight across the country next month as its producers hit the road for the annual Coonawarra Wine Tasting Roadshow in August.

Held in five major centres across Australia, the annual Roadshow sees up to 20 Coonawarra producers travel from the famed Terra Rossa soils of regional South Australia to bring the region’s wines directly to consumers.

Since its inception in 2003, more than 15,000 Coonawarra wines have been poured across 125 Roadshow events, introducing over 30,000 wine lovers to the region.

The 2026 metropolitan tour will include tasting events in Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane along with a dedicated showcase on the Sunshine Coast. This tour follows a successful regional Victorian Roadshow events this past June, which Geelong & Warrnambool achieving sell out attendance.

Backed by a close-knit community of passionate producers – from multi-generational family wineries to innovative new players – the Roadshow continues to champion the depth, diversity, and distinction of Coonawarra wines.

“The Coonawarra Wine Tasting Roadshow is a fantastic opportunity to connect directly with our winemakers,” says Heidi Guyett, Events and Marketing Manager at Coonawarra Vignerons.  “There’s something special about meeting the people behind the wines – hearing their stories, learning about vintages, and discovering the character that makes Coonawarra so unique” added Guyett.

Emma Raidis from Raidis Estate says the Roadshow is one of the highlights of the year for Coonawarra producers.

“We love the Coonawarra Roadshow because it’s about so much more than pouring wine. It’s about meeting people face-to-face, sharing a laugh, telling our family’s story and showing why we’re so passionate about Coonawarra,” said Raidis.

“Seeing the enthusiasm people have for our region reminds us why we do what we do, and we always leave with new friendships and great memories.”

Raidis says the Roadshow is just as rewarding for the wineries as it is for the people attending.

“It’s also a wonderful opportunity to catch up with our mates from home. Everyone is always a little more excited when they see the bright lights of the city! There’s a real sense of camaraderie amongst the wineries—it’s a bit like school camp for winemakers.”

Coonawarra is synonymous with premium red wines, iconic brands and a rich history of wine making dating back to 1895. Attendees will be spoilt for choice with anywhere between 100 and 150 wines being poured at the varying events with a great range of varieties and styles up for tasting.

Not surprisingly an extensive range of premium red wines will be feature, along with an impressive selection of Coonawarra’s white varieties.

“The cool climatic conditions of the Coonawarra Wine Region make for outstanding white wines that are crisp and aromatic. From Riesling to Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris – there will be something for every wine lover – sparkling wines included,” Guyett added.

One of the highlights of this year’s Coonawarra’s Wine Tasting Roadshow will once again see Coonawarra take to the water, with the Sydney showcase returning to the luxurious Starship Sydney for a spectacular afternoon cruise on Sydney Harbour.

Following the success of last year’s inaugural harbour event, and back by popular demand, the floating wine tasting returns on Sunday 9 August, pairing iconic views with the very best of Coonawarra.

“We’re thrilled to be returning to Sydney Harbour for a second year,” said Guyett.

“The response to last year’s event was outstanding. There’s something truly special about enjoying Coonawarra wines while cruising past some of Australia’s most iconic landmarks. It’s a relaxed afternoon of exceptional wine, wonderful company and unforgettable views.”

As the vessel glides past the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge, guests can sip and swirl their way through the region’s finest wines, making for an unforgettable Coonawarra experience on the harbour.
