The Continental Sorrento’s Ember is known for its delicious coastal dining offering centred around fire-led cooking. Now, the Peninsula venue has launched a monthly winemaker’s dinner, along with one-off events that are all perfect for locals and visitors alike.
The region surrounding The Conti is full of some of Victoria’s best vineyards, making these monthly evenings focused on different wineries ideal collaborations. Consistent in format, yet unique in content; each Winemaker’s Dinner as a collaboration between Ember and a local winery, with a thoroughly curated four-course menu expertly paired with standout wines to elevate the experience.
This month’s dinner showcases one of the Peninsula’s most acclaimed wineries. An Oyster Bar on arrival will be paired with Estate Pinot Gris, then guests will enjoy a Lobster Ravioli with caviar cream paired with Estate Chardonnay. For main there’s Tournedos Rossini with house sides accompanied by Estate Pinot Noir, before the evening is concluded with a Blue Cheese & Peppered Fig Terrine with lavosh & paste paired with Magic Stalks Shiraz.

And there are two exciting one-off events next month at The Conti that should also not be missed.
A Laphroaig Whisky Dinner will be held on 7 August at 6pm. Priced $220pp, guests will enjoy a four course menu including house-smoked rainbow trout, dry-aged shimo wagyu rump cap and more, with each dish paired to a Laphroaig whisky. A Suntory Global Spirits Brand Ambassador will share the stories, craftsmanship and tasting notes behind each pairing to ensure the evening is both informative and delicious.
On Saturday 15 August, the Winter Wine & Jazz Festival will take place at The Continental Sorrento. Complementing Ember restaurant, The Conti’s iconic Events Level will transform into the region’s premier destination for wine lovers, bringing together 20 of the Mornington Peninsula’s leading wineries for an unforgettable afternoon of wine tasting, live jazz and local food. Held entirely indoors, guests can escape the winter chill and experience the best of the Peninsula, whether a wine enthusiast or simply planning a weekend getaway to Sorrento. Priced $90pp.
Back at the restaurant, the heart of Ember lies with a commitment to exploring flavour through warmth and fire. The kitchen’s use of the Josper Grill ensures that each cut is grilled, seared, or charred to perfection, offering the flexibility to cater to the extensive range of meats on offer.
Diners on a la carte occasions will find 20 steak options on the menu, with highlights such as the 300g grass-fed Southern Ranges Cube Roll, 300g Stone Axe Wagyu Striploin and shared options like the 1.2kg Shimo Tomahawk, served alongside the Chef’s sides and sauces.
For those not craving steak there’s menu favourites to choose from including Lobster Roll (miso mayo, slaw), Split Prawns (chorizo, pickled lemon), and Spanner Crab Casarecce(green pea, garlic cream), Spaghetti Marinara (split tomato, prawn, scallop, fish, mussels, garlic, parsley, evoo) and Seasonal mushroom risotto (Grana) – which ensures the restaurant caters to a wide range of tastes.
